Samantha’s Story

Everyone deserves support and understanding in their journey toward mental well-being. As a Clinician and Mental Health Counselor at Modern Psychiatry, I have the privilege of helping clients work toward their mental well-being everyday ... providing them a soft place to land and offering support during their difficult time.

Children. Adolescents. Adults. Clients of all ages bring a myriad of challenges: complex family dynamics, academic pressures, identity issues or peer and relationship issues. “My role is to provide a safe space for exploration, validation, and growth, helping people develop coping strategies and the resilience to face the life challenges that come from internal barriers, external pressures, or past traumas. All of these may impact a person’s ability to set and achieve goals.”

I take a humanistic/ person-centered approach and work toward building strong therapeutic relationships based on trust, understanding, empathy and consistency. I meet my clients exactly where they are at that moment and tailor my approach.

Unfortunately, social stigma surrounding mental health still exists and can negatively impact individuals who want/need to seek help. “Stigma can often silence individuals who experience trauma and can lead to their isolation ... and limit their access to care. Addressing stigma requires collective efforts to promote understanding, empathy and acceptance of those affected by trauma. This includes destigmatizing mental health discussions, increasing awareness of trauma-informed care, and advocating for policies that prioritize mental health support and inclusion.

At Modern Psychiatry, we offer convenience and access, employ an ethical approach, and provide clients with individualized care. The comprehensive services we provide are the result of our practitioners’ diverse mental health backgrounds. “It’s great to be part of such a multifaceted team.”
